President Trump Gets Ready to Visit The UK

The American President, Donald Trump, will pay an official visit to the United Kingdom on the 13th of July, 2018. This announcement came after he had earlier struck out a planned visit due to the fear of being mobbed by mass demonstrators.

According to BBC, the courtesy trip may lack the lush kind of reception that President Trump had been promised during the visit to the White House, by the UK Prime Minister, Theresa May in January 2017. However, an invite to the state will still be organized for him.

Jon Sopel, the editor for the North American region, said that he believed Trump would possibly also extend his visit to Queen Elizabeth II.

President Trump was in Davos in the beginning of 2018 and Theresa May was also there

The Downing Street stated that President Trump is expected to have discussions with Prime Minister, Theresa May. Further information will be released as preparations progress. May has also confirmed the said visit, expressing her delight to welcome President Trump as he comes to the UK on an official mission.

The meeting of NATO, which is scheduled to come up in Brussels and which Trump has been noted down as an important dignitary, will precede the July visit to May.

The White House and the Downing Street are collaborating on the arrangement of the journey and there are hopes that they would both unveil the information pertaining to it later, but the White House press secretary and the spokesperson to the president, Sarah Sanders, eventually leaked out the news first.

What to expect from the meeting?

Also endorsing the expected visit by Trump was Sir Kim Darroch, the UK diplomat. He tweeted the slated July date via his Twitter page with excitement and happiness.

However, the declaration of the details by the White House affirming the July schedule for Trump’s courtesy call, was released earlier than the UK government at Downing Street hoped, and it means that the logistics for the preparations are still many and there are several stones to be turned.

The much-anticipated visit would have happened earlier this year if not for the cancellation by Trump himself who felt that his safety was not certain in some areas earmarked for him to go to during his stay there.

Both leaders are expected to discuss some international issues, however, the larger part of concentration will possibly be about any attention he would have with Queen Elizabeth II.

It’s likely that the meeting place with Queen Elizabeth may be at Windsor Castle or Buckingham Palace. The Queen has been a constant host to all the presidents in America since she began ruling the kingdom.

Another interesting part of the call to look forward is a possible encounter between President Trump and Jeremy Corbyn, the leader of the Labour Party in Britain. Furthermore, it’s possible that the matter bordering on logistical supervision, plus the best ways to checkmate the activities of protesters, will be tabled as well. A minister was overheard saying that the president will not visit places that are risky to his security or where people would boo him.

Other Vital Issues

At the beginning of 2018, President Trump struck out an earlier-scheduled visit to the UK where he was supposed to commission the recently built American embassy located in Vauxhall, with a grumble that the shift to a displaced spot from the location, situated at the southern side of Thames, was a “terrible arrangement”. On the other hand, opponents believed that his decline was possibly precipitated by the fear of meeting with rioters.

Since he was elected as president in 2016 and sworn in the following year, Theresa May became the first international ruler to have visited Trump at the White House in 2017. She came along with a request from Queen Elizabeth to honor Britain with an official visit that would be marked with abundant lush and luxury.

The request was granted by Trump, but a specific date was not yet set, and some informants insinuated that it might have been shifted until further notice.

Trump’s visit may lead to breaking down of law and order in the UK, which will surely embarrass him, according to Ben Harris-Quinney, the Bow Group chairman

The announcement for this official visit to Britain, this year, was made after both leaders, May and Trump, met in Davos last January during World Economic Forum.

Sopel hinted that May already has several matters concerning businesses to iron out with her US visitors, such as the structure for a trade partnership in the future, and his decisions on levies placed on aluminum and steel.
