Effects Financial Stress Can Have on Your body
Financial stress can definitely be a handful at most times, but, it’s more than just a little tension. It can lead to many issues that may affect the quality of your life and make it even harder for you to cope with finance-related problems. When financial problems get out of hand, they can lead to issues regarding your mind, body, and even social life. Some common issues are as follows:
– Loss of Sleep: Excessive stress can lead to sleep disorders, and these sleepless nights tether your ability to make changes and sort out your finances.
– Weight changes: Stress can release certain hormones in your body that either result in you gaining weight or losing weight at a quick pace.
– Depression: Researchers have concluded that people who are struggling with debt are twice as prone to developing depression compared to people that are debt-free.
– Isolation: When stressed about money in particular, it’s difficult to focus on anything else. Your mind keeps going back to it whether you are sitting in a social setting or not. It’s almost as if you are there physically but not mentally.
– Develop unhealthy coping mechanisms: When stressed, you might start seeking things that would help you cope with the debt. This can include drinking, over-eating, abusing prescription drugs, etc.
